![]() IMO youre not gonna have a good time if your first Isaac experience is Repentance. If you want to spend your money on a fulfilling and entertaining gameplay experience like a smart person would do, probably fucking not. The new DLC is way harder than Afterbirth +. If you're the type who's likely to hate the Star Wars prequels but still get them on your BluRay shelf and consider them canon for the sake of accepting the flaws of a beloved franchise, this is an equally unreasonable waste of your money that might be worth your time anyway. How to play The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth + for Beginners Hi, BOIA is my first ever rogue like game. The most complete archive of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth content. If you're like me and want to check it out even knowing that it's bad because it's attached to a thing you love, or if you're also like me and will do stupid things for the sake of completion, then I recommend it. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is a great game, strong gameplay coupled with deep mechanics and an interesting, if vague, story make for a unique experience. ![]() Just because it was broken before and now it technically works (most of the time), it's not a good expansion. ![]() And, even in fixing these things, even in taking every sprite that's a lazy recolour and making a new sprite for it, in making a set of modding tools that isn't complete ass, in fixing items that crash the game for no reason, in releasing a booster pack on time with a meaningful integration of somebody's mod rather than a haphazardly thrown together "close enough" approximation of it with no pomp, circumstance or ceremony, in changing or straight up removing all the asinine achievements that place stupid goals and completely break the formula of completion that The Binding of Isaac once had as the crown jewel of its gameplay, it would still be a mediocre expansion at best, with uninteresting items and uninteresting bosses and long stretches of boring gameplay with boring enemies and an inherently spastic and unfair grind of a final boss crappily appended onto the side of the game like a tumour with no sense of game flow who wouldn't be a good boss even if it was programmed half competently. Sacrificial Altar is an unlockable activated item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth ( Booster Pack 5). Badly designed and conceived bosses, awful game flow, a single decently fun but ultimately thoughtlessly designed new character, items made out of an obligation to meet a quota of new items rather than from somebody actually having a good idea for some items, no polish, entire chunks of new content that are outright lazy, bafflingly sporadic and overall poor support of the modding community in an expansion centered around modding, the list goes on. But it's still an awful expansion that actively makes the game worse. People have been saying it's "not so bad" or "not as bad," with changes like Big Horn's damage scaling being removed and certain game-destroying bugs being patched out.
